LILY VAN MUNCHING

  Lily Van Munching (b. 2000, Santa Fe, NM) is a painter and illustrator, recently graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration and a concentration in Literature (2025).

Her work focuses on the storytelling capabilities of the human figure and the portrait, inspired by the representation of the female body in art and what it means to take control of that narrative, as a female artist herself. Influenced by mythology, literature, and the classical artworks she grew up admiring, she reinterprets those traditions through a contemporary lens — finding beauty and relevance in the old while reflecting the diversity of the world around her.
